U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) Gen Christopher G. Cavoli arrives on a visit to Lithuania tomorrow. He will meet with president of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas and Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt Gen Valdemaras Rupšys and attend commemoration of Lithuania’s 19th anniversary of NATO membership at the Bastion of Vilnius City Wall.
At the meeting with SACEUR General Ch. G. Cavoli in January Lt Gen V. Rupšys focused on NATO’s multidimensional (air, maritime, land and digital domains) regional defence plans and deterrence and defence plans that lay out military capability planning and enhancement and a timely use of all NATO capabilities upon necessity. The upcoming meeting will focus on the Baltic states, their defensibility, enhancement of NATO defence plans and assembling member states for the practical implementation of the plans. As a member of NATO, Lithuania learns and works alongside other Allies, develops new defence technologies, and ensures security of its citizens in the air, at sea, on land, in cyber and in space.
As U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander (SACEUR), Gen Christopher G. Cavoli provides command and control of all strategic level NATO operations and exercises in Europe and sets the strategic military direction to his NATO Chain of Command subordinate commanders through the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, SHAPE, deployed in Mons, Belgium. As Commander of the U.S. European Command, Gen Cavoli ensures readiness of the force for the wide spectrum military missions and exercises in concert with Allies and partners in Europe in defence of the national interest of the United States and support of those of Europe.
