Military Conscription and Recruitment Service of Lithuanian Armed Forces (MCRS) under the Chief of Defence was reinstated on 1st of July 2016.

The main tasks of MCRS are:

- to implement state policy on military conscription and recruitment;

- to ensure that military posts in military units and services are fully manned.

The activities of MCRS are regulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, Law on the Organization of the National Defence System and Military Service, Law on Military Conscription, decrees of the President of Republic of Lithuania, Resolutions of Government of Lithuania and orders of Minister of National Defence and of the Chief of Defence.

Currently, MCRS consists of a command element and 6 regional sections located in Alytus, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Panevėžys, Šiauliai and Vilnius.
