In the end of July a beach volleyball court was opened for use in Rukla (Jonava district): it was set up by troops of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battalion Battle Group for local residents to spend more interesting and healthier pastime.
The friendly match held at the opening of the court was a cheery event for members of Rukla community, including civilians as well as members of the NATO eFP Battalion stationed there, who turned up in abundance.
The event was attended by head of Rukla ward Gintas Jasiulionis, Commander NATO eFP Battalion Battle Group Lieutenant Colonel Christoph Huber, representatives of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf HQ Captain Donatas Razmolovas.
EFP soldiers brought an improvised stage, arranged matches and activities for participants of the event. According to them, they expect the court to be actively used and provide a venue for the same emotions that were there during the friendly match at the opening event.
The NATO eFP Battalion Battle Group has been deployed in Rukla since the beginning of 2017. It includes over a thousand troops from Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands,, Norway, and Germany, and combat vehicles of the NATO allies, such as Leopard 2 battle tanks, Marder and CV 90 IFVs, different armoured personnel carriers, etc.
NATO eFP soldiers actively joined in with the life of Rukla community as soon as they were deployed: social projects of Rukla and Jonava communities for taking care of the surroundings, supporting education, care and health institutions.
