On June 11-16 Exercise Strong Shield 6 organized by the 6th Territorial Unit of the Resurrection Military District, National Defence Volunteer Force, began in northern Lithuania training members of the Resurrection Military District to plan and execute defensive tasks.
The exercise will certify the skills of the Headquarters and Infantry Companies of the 6th Territorial Unit in planning and execution of operations in real terrain and time, as well as coordination and interaction with other Lithuanian Armed Forces and Allied units.
The National Defence Volunteer Forces members will be joined by Land Force units, members of the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union and NATO Allies from Denmark, France, Germany, Latvia, UK, and the U.S. which amounts to an approx. 100-stong training audience.
The National Defence Volunteer Force trains volunteer military personnel for armed defence of the land territory of Lithuania. It comprises over 5000 volunteer members, part-time military service conscripts serving on the basis of a volunteer contract. They train in combat readiness events for approx. 30 days a year and mostly during weekends which allows them to accommodate duty in the military and civilian activities – work and studies.
