International search and rescue exercise „Bold Mercy 2009" of the central Baltic Sea region countries will be held in the territorial waters of Latvia and Lithuania on May 6-7. The exercise is organised and coordinated by the Lithuanian Naval Force Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre.
The exercise is concentrates on testing efficiency of coordination of actions between search and rescue centres of individual countries, and interoperability of other service in searching and rescuing missing people, and responding to accidents of maritime pollution.
Boats of Lithuanian and Latvian Naval Forces, helicopters of Lithuanian Air Force, Sweden, and Latvia, and observers from Lithuania, Latvia, and Sweden will be present in the exercise.
International search and rescue exercise „Bold Mercy" has been organised since 1998.
