Run-up for NATO exercise to be held in Lithuania this autumn continue


From June 28 to 29 Planning Team for the NATO Exercise Steadfast Juncture 2011 to be held in Lithuania this autumn conducted a coordination meeting at the Gen Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre in Nemenčinė and the Pabradės Training Area.

 

The meeting was attended by delegates from the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFC), Headquarters Allied Force Command Heidelberg (HQ FC Heidelberg), Joint Warfare Center (JWC), 1 and 2 NATO Signal Battalions, and other units.

 

Exercise planning personnel shared the most recent information regarding the preparations, addressed obstacles, and set priorities in the run-up process. The guests also toured the Exercise sites where the incoming forces, Exercise Command and evaluators will deploy.

 

Lithuania's representatives also shared their experience from Exercise Amber Hope 2011 which concluded in Lithuania last week with rendering Host Nation Support to the international forces (approximately 500 personnel from 9 NATO and Partnership for Peace program countries)) as one the Exercise tasks. The guests were invited to see changes made to infrastructure at the Pabradės Training Area with a view of better organisation of Amber Hope 2011 and the upcoming Steadfast Juncture 2011.

 

Goal of Steadfast Juncture 2011 planned to be conducted this autumn - to certify Deployable Joint Staff Element (DJSE) of JFC Brunssum (the Netherlands) and staffs of the NATO Response Force for 2012.

 

The Exercise will take place simultaneously in several countries while the command and control will be conducted via NATO communications and information systems. In Lithuania the Pabradės Training Area will be the venue of the Exercise.

 

Approximately 500 military international personnel is expected to be deployed in Lithuania for the period of Steadfast Juncture 2011.
