On October 18 through 31 two-week multinational Exercise Iron Wolf II will run at the Lithuanian Armed Forces Gaižiūnai (Jonava distr.) and General Silvestras Žukauskas (Švenčionys distr.) Training Areas. The event will rehearse and assess planning and conduct of defensive and offensive operations abilities in the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group attached to the Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf and the Lithuanian Grand Duchess Birutė Uhlan Mechanised Infantry Battalion, ad also refine interoperability with NATO allies.
The exercise will involve over 2.3 thousand soldiers from 12 NATO countries, and a HQ element of the NATO Multinational Corps Northeast. The highlight of the exercise will be the refinement of battlefield actions and command and control chain with higher command of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group (which integrated into the Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf).
Deployed in Rukla since the beginning of the year under the lead of Germany, the NATO eFP Battle Group reached full operational capability in June. It is also manned by Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Norway. Apart from the countries contributing to the NATO eFP, the exercise will include participation from the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Poland, Slovenia, and the U.S. The participants will plan and arrange defensive and halt operations not only in military areas but also in the civilian environment.
Iron Wolf II is the annual Exercise Iron Wolf organised by the Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf.
The first part of Exercise Iron Wolf took place in June training over 5 thousand soldiers from 10 NATO allies. The event was held for the first rotation of the NATO eFP Battle Group, then the multinational unit formed for the purpose of deterrence and defence was assessed to be fully integrated into the Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf and ready to carry out its tasks.

Distinguished Guests and Media Day of Exercise Iron Wolf II is planned to take place on October 27 at the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area in Pabradė. It will feature a dynamic display of a joint defensive operation.
