On June 17 major part of the heavy equipment the German 41st Brigade brings to Exercise Griffin Storm arrived at the Central Klaipėda Ferry Terminal and will head on in column to the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area (Švenčionys region).
Kicking off June 21, the exercise is a stage of a continuous training cycle that began with raised alert level at 41st Brigade units and beginning of preparation in Germany a couple of days which was followed by the start of the deployment to Lithuania. Approx. 1000 troops and 320 military vehicles will gather for bilateral Exercise Griffin Storm via roads, ferries, air transport and railway.
The Lithuanian and German military personnel will be rehearsing defence of NATO’s eastern flank. The exercise is planned and organized by the 41st Brigade Forward Command Element in Lithuania and the Lithuanian Land Force. The training continues a standing cycle of joint training executed since 4 September 2022, the date of deployment of the 41st Brigade Forward Command Element in Lithuania.
Exercise Griffin Storm serves as Germany’s platform for a consistent preparations for delivering on its commitments, as well as a demonstration of readiness for a speedy assignment and moving of units to execute combat tasks in Lithuania.
