One more group of local policemen graduated from the Lithuanian-led POMLT course

 

December 20, members of the Lithuanian-led Police Operational Liaison and Mentoring Team (POMLT) presented graduation certificates to 39 policemen of Ghor in the Police Headquarters based in Chaghcharan after finishing the basic patrol course.

 

It was the fifth basic police patrol course POMLT have organised for police officers of Ghor. For six weeks local policemen were actively studying police tactics, search for explosives, formations and other routine police activities. Along with police tactics POMLT also promotes spread of literacy among local policemen so the course included writing and Islamic religion and culture.

 

Governor of Ghor Aqahi Abdullah Heiwadand and Chief of Police of Ghor Brig Gen Khoudayar Goodsi who attended the graduation ceremony thanked Lithuania and POMLT for the support rendered for training Afghan policemen for service and noted that POMLT activities help Afghan officers acquire professional combat training and an increasing confidence of the society.

 

On December 21 eleven policemen of Ghor graduated from a week-long basic first medical aid course. POMLT provided theoretical and practical medical seminars for a fourth group of local policemen, they learned the main principles of delivering first medical aid and assistance in case of injuries, bone fractures and bleeding.

 

The third rotation of POMLT formed by Lithuanian and US troops is led by Col Lt Ričardas Pocius. From the beginning of the POMLT mission in 2010 participants of the mission have trained over 230 local policemen in the basic patrol course and 50 local police officers in the basic first medical aid course. POMLT also renders operational planning assistance and support in the implementation of police operations.
