New rotation of peacekeepers will be formally deployed to ISAF mission


October 14, the 12th shift of peacekeepers will be deployed to ISAF mission in the Lithuanian-led Chaghcharan PRT in a stately ceremony, Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanised Infantry Battalion, Rukla, Jonava Distr.

 

Vice Minister of National Defence Rimas Jonaitis, Chief of Defence of Lithuania Maj Gen Arvydas Pocius, leadership of the Motorised Infantry Brigade „Iron Wolf", commanders of units of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, members of administration of Jonava City and relatives of leaving troops are expected to attend the event.

 

Deployment ceremony will begin with a holy mass at St Apostle Jacob Church, a solemn parade in Algirdas Battalion will follow.

 

The new shift will leave for Afghanistan in November.

 

The battalion provides personnel for Chaghcharan PRT for the second time, for the first time its flag was hoisted in the camp of Ghor PRT in Chaghcharan in 2006.
