Multinational Exercise Iron Wolf 2023 – kicks off in Lithuania

October 5, multinational Exercise Iron Wolf 2023–II begins in Lithuania. The event will run for two weeks at the Gaižiūnai Training Area (Jonava region), General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area (Švenčionys region) and surrounding areas training military personnel from across the different units of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and from seven other NATO Allies – Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Luxembourg and the United States.

The training audience will include approx. 3,600 servicemembers and 550 pieces of military equipment – tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored vehicles, artillery guns, supply and command vehicles.

Troops of the Grand Duchess Birutė Uhlan Battalion, General Romualdas Giedraitis Artillery Battalion and the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group, all of them integral units of the Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf, will be training offensive and defensive operations. Other participants of the exercise will come from the National Defence Volunteer Force, Air Force, Military Police, General Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, U.S. Army, and the 1-9 Field Artillery Regiment, U.S. Army.

Exercise Iron Wolf is a bi-annual event that assesses readiness of Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf battalions every spring and autumn.
