Minnesota Army National Guard battalion deployed in Lithuania

A large-scale re-deployment operation of U.S. military forces from Klaipėda to Pabradė took place in the first weekend of June. The operation that began off the coast of North America reached Lithuania on June 2 , then the forces were moved by railway and roads to General Romualdas Žukauskas Training Area in Pabradė.


The Battalion Battle Group is formed by the Combined Arms Battalion, 136th Infantry Regiment of the Minnesota Army National Guard and the 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade.


Roughly 350 military vehicles were brought to Lithuania, including 14 M1A1Abrams tanks, roughly 30 M2 Bradley armoured personnel carriers, heavy logistical equipment, etc.


The U.S. soldiers in General S.Žukauskas Training Area in Pabradė began preparation for the largest multinational exercise this year Iron Wolf 2017 which will be held on June 12-24 in Pabradė, Rukla, and other districts of Lithuania.
