Members of the National Guard of Georgia conducted a visit in Lithuania

On November 13-15 Lieutenant Colonel Maisuradze Ioseb, Head of G1 Department of the Division Headquarters of the National Guard of Georgia, Lieutenant Colonel Mchedlidze Mamuka, Head of NATO Integration and Liaison with Partners Department of the National Guard, and Lieutenant Colonel Shavadze Malkhaz, Head of G3 Department of the Division Headquarters of the National Guard paid a visit to the Ministry of National Defence.


On November 13 the delegation familiarised with organisation, functions and tasks of the Lithuanian National Defence Volunteer Force (NDVF), and combat training of volunteer troops, while on a visit at the NDVF HQ. The guests were briefed on the Non-kinetic Operations Company of the NDVF 8th Territorial Unit of the Didžioji Kova Military District, its functions and tasks, and discussed the plan of cooperation between Lithuanian and Georgian volunteer forces for 2016 with the hosts.


On November 14 the guests observed the 3rd Territorial Unit of the Žemaičiai Military District (NDVF) performing tasks and integrating into regular forces at the multinational field training exercise Iron Sword 2015 at General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area in Pabradė.


Lithuanian and Georgian volunteer forces established direct contacts in 2014. The cooperation has been successfully developed since then and participation of both countries' soldiers in a joint exercise is planned in 2016. Lithuanian representatives are planned to conduct a return visit to Georgia early in December.
