On January 14 NATO's Allied Air Command Ramstein (Germany) organized a press tour in order to demonstrate the NATO air policing efforts in Europe and cooperation with partners in the Baltic region.
An A-321 Airbus of the Belgian Air Force took off from the military airport in Brussels with Lieutenant General Klaus Habersetzer of the German Air Force, currently the Commander of the Combined Air Operations Centre Uedem (Germany) and Chief of Staff of the Belgian Air Force Colonel Geert De Decker and their delegations on board. The guests landed at and were welcomed to the Lithuanian Air Force Base at Šiauliai (Šiauliai Air Base) by Commander of the Lithuanian Air Force Col Dainius Guzas and Commander of the Air Base Lt Col Antanas Matutis. At the moment a Belgian Air Force Detachment with four F-16 fighter aircraft is conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states from Šiauliai Air Base. The guests were brief on the NATO Air Policing activities in Europe and countries' cooperation on the implementation of this NATO security measure.
