Chief of Staff of the Lithuanian Armed Forces logistics Command Lt Col Aurius Daškevičius and Commander of the Depot Service Lt Col Laimis Šereika attended a Bundeswehr Logistical Conference in Garlstedt, Germany, on November 20–23.
Lithuanian military logistics specialists were invited to attend by Commander of the German Armed Forces Logistics Command Maj Gen Gerald Funke since the Lithuanian Armed Forces Logistics Command established close contacts with its German counterpart force early in this summer.
Held for over a decade, this year the Conference was dominated by European security. Participants of the event discussed possibilities of mutual effective solutions to regional strength issues. A significant part of the event was also dedicated to the stationing of the German Brigade to Lithuania and logistical challenges concerning it. Another topic was the Middle East situation that endangered the existence of the state of Israel.
With the said geopolitical situation around, the event inevitable addressed the present-day national and collective security challenges, as well as the Bundeswehr logistical capability structure and logistical assistance in terms of national and collective defence, and the role of logistics in the war in Ukraine.
As the Armed Forces are becoming increasingly more steeped in advanced technologies, one day of the Conference was dedicated to supplies digitalization, possibilities and applicability of 3D printing.
