Lithuania's third soldier deployed with KFOR

On June 18 SFC Rolandas Rakauskas (Movement Control Centre of the Lithuanian Armed Forces) was formally deployed to the Kosovo Force (KFOR). He is the third servicemember of the Lithuanian Armed Forces who will contribute to NATO's movement control operations in ensuring a coherent withdrawal of NATO forces from Kosovo.

The servicemember will conduct a three-month service at KFOR Joint Logistic Support Group (JLSG) Headquarters in Pristina, capital of Kosovo, as air transport specialist for the Multinational Integrated Logistic Unit (MILU).

Acting Commander of the Logistics Command Lt Col Ina Naruševičienė wished to the deployed soldier good luck in representing Lithuania in the multinational NATO mission and to bring as much experience as possible for completing the routine movement control functions back in Lithuania as well as for Lithuania's role as MILU lead nation next year.

The Lithuanian Armed Forces have been fulfilling the commitment to post a movement control specialist to various positions at KFOR every four months since 2012, when Lithuania rejoined the NATO-led multinational operation in Kosovo. Lithuanian representatives have already had the opportunity to fill the positions of movement control programme operator and MILU commander. Lithuanians serve in MILU together with counterparts from the Czech Republic, Croatia and Bulgaria.
