Lithuanian soldiers assigned to the Danish Contingent mission ready

On January 14 deployment ceremony for Lithuanian soldiers of the Danish Contingent (DANCON OIR), was held at Aalborg (Denmark) after they had completed pre-deployment to the mission in Iraq.


The DANCON includes approx. 150 troops, soldiers from the three Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia) as well. Military personnel from the Baltic countries integrated into the Danish Contingent excellently over the pre-deployment training period and will soon join their colleagues already completing tasks of the mission.


Commander of the Danish Army Maj Gen Michael Lollesgaard thanked the Baltic states for being a part of the mission in Iraq together with the Danish military and noted that their integration was going fluently thanks to a long-standing experience of cooperation between the countries.


The deployment ceremony was attended by Defence Attaché of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Denmark, Kingdom of Norway, Kingdom of Sweden, and the Republic of Finland Cdr Giedrius Valintėlis.
