Lithuanian officers learned from the experience of the 10th Panzer Division of the Bundeswehr

On May 27-28 Commander of the 10th Panzer Division of the Bundeswehr Maj Gen Harald Gante and a delegation of staff officers paid a visit to Lithuania.


The aim of the visit was a meeting with officers of the Lithuanian Land Force in the town of Birštonas town where the German guests spoke about mission command (Ger. Aufragstaktik) and leadership development and civic education (Ger. Innere Führung) which are well-developed in the German Armed Forces. The guests also shared personal experience from their service and leadership positions, answer questions and took part in a discussion.


Division Commander Maj Gen Harald Gante also met with Commander of the Land Force Maj Gen Valdemaras Rupšys to discuss cooperation and military training topicalities.


The 10th Panzer Division of the Bundeswehr is in close interaction with the Lithuanian Land Force at various levels: Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf of the Lithuanian Armed Forces is affiliated to the 10th Division for military training purposes, units of the 10th Division are contributed to the NATO forward Presence Battalion Battle Group deployed in Lithuania since 2017.
