Lithuanian military personnel decorated after mission in Iraq

December 7, two servicemembers of the Lithuanian Armed Forces received medals for service in the NATO Training Mission - Iraq (NTM-I) at the Joint Headquarters of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Chief of the Joint Headquarters Col Vilmantas Tamošaitis presented to Capt Robertas Rudzevičius and MSgt Algimantas Greičaitis the National Defence System of the Republic of Lithuania level medals for Deployment on International Missions.

Capt R. Rudzevičius was deployed on a half-year mission at the NTM-I Headquarters where he served as operations and security officer. MSgt A. Greičaitis trained senior non-commissioned officers of Iraqi armed forces as an instructor at the Taji Noncommissioned Officer Academy.

By contributing troops to NTM-I Lithuania supports efforts of the Alliance to ensure training of Iraqi national forces and technical assistance on the way to the development of a democratic state through cooperation with the Iraqi government and the Multi-National Security Transition Command - Iraq (MNSTC-I).
