From November 7 to 10 personnel of the Military Medical Service paid a visit to Armenia. On the first day of the visit they met with Col A. Parsadanijan, chief of the Medical Department of the Armenian Ministry of Defence, and other medical officers. During the meeting experience in organisation of medical support and distribution and training of medical military personnel was exchanged. Possibilities of further cooperation in medical sector, including multinational missions, were also discussed.
Lithuanian and Armenian military medics have been cooperating for several years. Chief of the Medical Department heartily thanked the commanding authorities of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
For the opportunity for Armenian military medics of attending the Basic Staff Medical Officer Course organised by the Military Medical Training Centre of the MD Jonas Basanavičius Military Medical Service and Military Pre-hospitalization Assistance for Sustaining Life of the Injured Course and invited to develop bilaterally beneficial cooperation.
On the following day of the visit Lithuanian military medics visited the Central War Hospital where medical services are provided not only for soldiers but also for families of serving, retired or killed servicemembers. Head of the hospital Col M. Mikaelijan showed Role 2 LM equipment donated by the USA and told about its advantages in practice, told about the hospital, and invited Lithuania's representatives to participate in Role 2 LM exercise plan to take place next year.
Highly experienced personnel of the hospital apply the most recent methods and equipment for treatment, and participate in multinational missions together with military medics from Germany. The hospital steadily treats bullet wounds and injuries caused by explosions so the personnel have developed excellent experience-based skills. Military medics of Armenia invited Lithuanian military medics to conduct apprenticeships at their hospital, presented the bio-medical method (usage of live fly maggots to heal necrosis in wounds). Several medics recalled the courses they took in Lithuania and thanked for knowledge and hospitality.
