On June 10 Exercise Blauen Express, a joint training event of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the French-German Brigade took place at the Lithuanian Armed Forces Gaižiūnai Training Area (Jonava region). The exercise was observed by Chair of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Rob Bauer, Chief of Defence of Lithuania General Valdemaras Rupšys, Commander Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, Commander of NATO Multinational Corps Northeast Lieutenant General Jürgen-Joachim von Sandrart.
Joint exercise of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the French-German Brigade Blauen Express trains defensive and offensive operations, live fire, from July 9 through 15. It involves approx. 400 members of the Franco-German Brigade and almost 100 of Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Infantry Battalion troops with various heavy equipment: Vilkas Infantry Fighting Vehicles, Fennek four-wheeled armed reconnaissance vehicles and Griffon armored personnel carriers of the French Army, AMX-10RC heavy armored vehicles and VBL light armored reconnaissance vehicles.
