Lithuanian Armed Forces leadership met with Commander Joint Force Command Brunssum

Commander of NATO's Joint Force Command in Brunssum General Riccardo Marchio (the Netherlands) is conducting his second visit in Lithuania this year. On October 10 General met with Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Žukas and Chief of the Defence Staff Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras.

 

During the work visit Generals discussed the security situation, NATO defence plans for our region, activity and deployment of the NATO units in Lithuania - the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group and the NATO Force Integration Unit - in an event of Article 5 scenario, and other topical aspects of regional security.

 

The Allied Joint Force Command (JFC) Brunssum is responsible for leading the NATO mission in Afghanistan, Resolute Support, the NATO Response Force of standby, and formation of the NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF), as well as for ensuring the communication between the NATO command and force structures.

 

Gen R. Marchio has been assigned to the position since February.
