On September 21 exercise King's Strike 2015, a cooperative training event of Lithuanian and U.S .troops, begins. Soldiers of both nations will have arms and use military vehicles, pyrotechnics, blast and tear gas ammunition in the city and district of Panevėžys.


The exercise will be conducted in cooperation with representatives of the city and district councils of Panevėžys, fire fighters' service, police, local hospital, emergency medical service, reporters and other public organisations. The cooperative exercise will train defence of the city of Panevėžys, stability operations, and supporting other organisations.

 

The exercise will involve military personnel from King Mindaugas Hussar Battalion of the Lithuanian Land Force and the 173rd Airborne Brigade of the U.S. Army.


King's Strike 2015 will conclude on September 25.


The exercise arranged cooperatively by representatives of various authorities of the city of Panevėžys so as to coordinate joint actions and test interaction according to scenario of a military conflict. City council of Panevėžys will activate the Emergency Commission and appoint a military commandant for the exercise. Police will be providing security in case unrest breaks out in the city and will carry out road patrols together with military personnel. Fire fighters service will carry out fire extinguishment and rescue operations, while Panevėžys central hospital will tackle mass injuries and many more incidents that require cooperation with military personnel and civil organisations.
