On February 2 through 6 squad and platoon-level training is running at the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanised Infantry Battalion in Rukla where military personnel of Algirdas Battalion and 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, U.S. Army in Europe, are sharing experience and refreshing skills through provision of support for offensive operations.
Last week Lithuanian and U.S. soldiers attended drivers training on roadless terrain and driving slalom ATVs HMMWV. The U.S. military also trained in a survival exercise, also attended by dog handlers from the Public Security Service under the Ministry of the Interior and the operational Response Squad.
Military personnel of the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, U.S. Army in Europe, are deployed at the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanised Infantry Battalion of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf.
U.S. military are deployed on a rotating basis in the Baltic States and Poland since spring 2014 as part of the U.S. Army in Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve aimed at demonstrating the U.S. commitments to its allies to ensure security after Russia's aggression in Ukraine.
U.S. military personnel will remain in our country till the end of the year, whereas Lithuania in its turn is making efforts to maintain the rotating U.S. presence after 2015 too.
