This year, the 29th of March, we celebrated the 7th year when Lithuania became a member of a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) also called the (North) Atlantic Alliance.

 

On this occasion, the community of Bubiai basic school (Šiauliai district) organized commemoration of that Day and invited soldiers from NATO air policing mission in Lithuania and delegation of Air Base to take part in.

Germany detachment‘s commander lt. col. Rupert Ficker- Reiβing properly introduced the structure of NATO mission, actions, proceedings, assignments, answered to pupils questions.

 

The head teacher Reimundas Varapickas demonstrated the school, pupils showed their talents.
In conclusion German soldiers, representatives of Air base and community of the school discussed about contribution, cooperation.
German Air force detachment quards Baltic airspace with two seated fighter jets F-4F Phantom. The current, fourth German mission will be changed by France Air Force detachment in the end of April, 2011 y.
