After several months on intense training, the fifth Lithuanian Armed Forces Instructors Group has been deployed to the British-led multinational operation in support the Armed Forces of Ukraine to contribute to the training effort. Lithuanian instructors will teach the Ukrainian students basic military competencies and skills for frontline combat.
“I know and I am strongly convinced that that you will do your best to transfer your expertise and skills to the Ukrainian troops. I wish you dedication, strong spirit and faith as you overcome whatever challenges you may encounter,” Commander of the Training Regiment Lt Col Marius Kugauda wished to the troops deploying on the training mission.
The unit is formed by the Great Lithuanian Hetman Jonušas Radvila Training Regiment, General Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre, Division General Stasys Raštikis Lithuanian Armed Forces School and MD Jonas Basanavičius Military Medical Service. Commander of the international Instructors Group Major Gintaras Striupaitis was presented the national flag of Lithuania at the ceremony.
Lithuanian Armed Forces military personnel have been deploying to the United Kingdom-led international effort for training the Armed Forces of Ukraine since November 2022. Lithuanian military instructors are also contributed to the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) and are also teaching Ukrainian troops in Lithuania according to the junior command and specialist training syllabus.
