On July Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force Lieutenant General Pasquale Preziosa will pay a visit to the Šiauliai Air Base of the Lithuanian Air Force. The Italian General will meet with Commander of the Lithuanian Air Force Colonel Audronis Navickas and Commander of the Šiauliai Air Base Colonel Vidmantas Raklevičius.
During the visit Lieutenant General P. Preziosa will also meet with soldiers of the Italian and Norwegian Air Contingents protecting security of the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian airspace since spring.
Italy first joined the NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission in late 2014 and the contingent stayed as the reinforcing element for the next NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission rotation beginning in spring 2015. Italy's Air Contingent carry out their patrolling tasks with Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets.
