On June 7 Exercise Iron Wolf 2024-I, one of the largest international field training exercises in Lithuania this year commences. Over 3700 Lithuanian and Allied military personnel with more than 500 pieces of military equipment will train defensive and offensive operations at Gaižiūnah and Kazlų Rūda Training Areas, and Kaunas, Jonava, Kaišiadorys and Prienai districts for nearly two weeks.
The main Training Audience of the exercise are King Mindaugas Hussar Battalion and the Logistics Battalion of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf and the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group (eFP) Lithuania. It will be using tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery, armored personnel carriers. Military equipment will move on the roads in the exercise areas, especially between Kazlų Rūda and Jonava, on June 8, 10 and 13.
Besides the Lithuanian military personnel, the exercise includes units from Belgium, Czech Republic, United States, Luxembourg, Norway, Netherlands and the eFP framework nation Germany. Iron Wolf is one of the largest field training exercises held in Lithuania annually to maintain combat readiness of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf.
