On 14 September, the Lithuanian Air Force (LAF) Aviation Base was visited by a group of U.S. officers led by President of European Missile Defense and EUCOM Issues Department Colonel Brad Mitchell.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of LAF Aviation Base and Danish Air Contingent which is currently performing NATO Baltic Air-policing mission.
During the visit, the officers met with the Danish Air Contingent and visited the Aviation Base. They also talked about future prospects as well as training and exercise opportunities. Later the group of U.S. officers inspected infrastructure and equipment of the Aviation Base.
At the end of the visit the guests met with troops of the first Air Force Advisory Team which operated in Afghanistan. The troops of this mission along with U.S. troops train Afghan helicopter pilots and maintenance personnel. This group also trains how to plan air operations, organise aircraft maintenance and repair work.
