On April 17 DV and Media Day of international anti-tank unit field training exercise Hunter took place at the General Silvestras Žukauskas training Area in Pabradė (Švenčionys district). The event was attended by Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis, Vice Chief of Defence of Lithuania Jonas Vytautas Žukas, Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force Brigadier General Valdemaras Rupšys, commanders of other units and foreign guests.
The dignitaries were invited to observe a joint operation by Lithuanian and allied soldiers - an infantry counterattack supported by anti-tank units, then anti-tank live fire, and had an opportunity to view anti-tank weaponry used in the exercise.
"Exercise Hunter is a unique opportunity for soldiers of anti-tank units to train nor also live fire but also tactics and elements of unit command. Experience and lessons learnt sharing with allies training together and invited experts from the US and Ukraine is equally important," Chief of Defence Lt Gen J. V. Žukas said.
The anti-tank units exercise is running in Pabradė on April 9-20 and trains over 700 soldiers from 8 NATO allies (Lithuania, Spain, US, Canada, Croatia, the Netherlands, France, and Germany). For the first time in the history of Exercise Hunter soldiers are training to call in air support and coordinate air attacks.
