On March 13 Defence Attaché of France in Lithuania Lieutenant Colonel Jean-Luc Lopez paid a study visit to the Headquarters of the Lithuanian Land Force in Vilnius. The aim of his visit was to familiarise with the situation in the Lithuanian Land Force, to develop possible bilateral cooperation perspectives in military training at army level, and to establish work contacts.
Chief of Staff Colonel Vaidotas Malinionis, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Lieutenant Colonel Artūras Radvilas and Deputy for Planning Major Darius Aukščionis introduced the Lithuanian Land Force to the Defence Attaché. The guest was briefed on the purpose, structure, personnel, weaponry and equipment, military operations and training for such operations in the Lithuanian Land Force as well as the international cooperation developed in the branch.
The overall purpose of the Lithuanian Land Force is to deliver armed protection and defence of the land territory of the Republic of Lithuania. The objectives of the branch is to train military units for armed defence of the land territory of the Republic of Lithuania and to deploy to multinational operations with an aim of ensuring territorial integrity of the Republic of Lithuania and meeting international commitments.
