July 28 decrees of the President of Lithuania on higher military ranks granted to officers of the Lithuanian Armed Forces came into force: the rank of Lieutenant General was bestowed on the Chief of Defence Major General Arvydas Pocius, the rank of Major General - on the Commander of the Air Force Brigadier General Edvardas Mažeikis, the rank of Brigadier General - on the Director General for Capabilities and Armaments Colonel Almantas Leika.
By decrees of the President ranks of Colonel were granted to the Commander of Motorized Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf Lieutenant Colonel Valdemaras Rupšys, Commander of Logistics Command Lieutenant Colonel Ovidijus Eitminavicius and Chief of Planning Command of Joint Headquarters Lieutenant Colonel Darius Petryla.
Ranks of Colonel and General are granted by the Decree of the President of Lithuania, proposals for the higher ranks are provided by the Minister of National Defence.
