Danish soldiers visited the children's home

Danish soldiers visited the children's home

On the 2nd of May Lithuanian Air Force Base and Royal Danish Air Force detachment troops that are leaving Šiauliai after the NATO Air policing mission shift have visited Šiauliai babies' orphanage.

Danish soldiers visited orphanage with the noble mission - they had brought from Denmark 7 Euro palettes diapers donated by Denmark based diaper manufacturing company. According to the children's home director Audronė Kardašienė - they will use those diapers for more than half of a year.

During the NATO air policing mission over the Baltic States Danish troops organized charity parties, in which raised funds for the children home. These funds were used to buy some stuff that orphanage can not afford - toy boxes, TV adapters, DVD player, household and hygiene measures. Danish detachment also donated their TV and a fridge.

It was the second charity visit during this Danish detachment mission. For the first time they visited a children's home in January. Then the soldiers were playing with children, reading stories and helping them to taste treats - fruit, juice and milk desserts.

At the 30th of April Royal Danish Air Force detachment, who started NATO Air Policing mission over the Baltic states at the 3rd of January, were replaced by French Air Force detachment. This was the fourth time when Danish troops guarded Baltic States air space. Before that Danish detachment  conducted NATO Air Policing mission from 01-07-2004 to 14-10-2004, from 04-01-2009 to 01-05- 2009 and from 02-09-2011 to 04-01-2012.
