July 1, Commander of the Pennsylvania National Guard Maj. Gen. Jessica L. Wright visited Joint Staff Headquarters of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. The US General and Chief of Joint Staff Brig. Gen. Algis Vaičeliūnas discussed possibilities of upgrading further cooperation in the sector of international operations. Activities - planning of military operations - and structure of the Joint Staff established in 2008 was introduced to the guest.
Maj. Gen. J. L.Wright and Brig. Gen. A.Vaičeliūnas also addressed the prospective participation of Lithuanian soldiers and members of the Pennsylvania National Guard in the international exercise "Amber Hope" in 2011-2012. Both countries send units of national armed forces to the exercise since 1995. Armed forces of both countries have bee sending units to the exercise hosted by Lithuania since 1995.
Brig. Gen. A.Vaičeliūnas and Maj. Gen. J. L. Wright considered the possibility to deploy more specialists of the Pennsylvania National Guard with the Lithuanian-led Chaghcharan PRT-9. Currently there are two specialists of logistics in PRT-9.
