 Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast is conducting a work visit in Lithuania

On June 14-15 Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC-NE) Lieutenant General Manfred Hofmann was on a visit in Lithuania. On June 14 General visited the Lithuanian Armed Forces Defence Staff and the NATO Force Integration Unit (NFIU) which is based in the same territory and subordinate to  MNC-NE, to discuss work-related matters.

 

On June 15 Lt Gen M. Hofman met with Chief of Defence of Lithuania t the Lithuanian Armed Forces Office.  Generals addressed the security situation, the recent and ongoing exercises in the region, NATO Command Structure adaptation, NATO Response Force and its mobility.

 

"The visit by Germany's General M. Hofman was also a way to farewell as his term in office as MNCNE Commander is ending, therefore I thanked him for the cooperation over the three years and wished every success in overcoming future challenges," Lt Gen J. V. Žukas said.

 

MNCNE is a part of the NATO Command Structure responsible for a concrete NATO region - northeast.  It is responsible for planning and execution of collective defence, humanitarian aid and contingency operations in the region, its contribution to international crisis management, including peacekeeping, operations of the Alliance and the United Nations.  

 

HQ MNCNE is based in Szczecin, Poland, seven Lithuanian officers are currently serving there.
