January 26-27, Chief of Defence of Lithuania Maj. Gen. Arvydas Pocius will participate in NATO's Military Committee's meeting held in NATO HQ in Brussels.


In the two-day meeting CHODs of NATO states will address ongoing operations of the Alliance and progress made and the New Strategic Concept.


NATO's Military Committee is the highest structure of military command in NATO subordinate to the North Atlantic Council, Defence Planning and Nuclear Planning Group.


The Military Committee accepts strategic military decisions and gives military advice for the North Atlantic Council in charge of making political decisions. Day-to-day work in the NATO's Military Committee is done during sitting attended by military representatives delegated by member states.


CHODs-level meeting of the Military Committee takes place three times a year. Two of them are held in Brussels, and one - in one of NATO member states on a rotational basis.
