On April 29 Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt Gen Valdemaras Rupšys met with Defence Attaché of the Federal Republic of Germany to Lithuania Lt Col Konstantin Bellini.
“Germany is a comprehensive and one of the strongest partners Lithuania has in modernizing our armed forces and strengthening deterrence capabilities. We have discussed at the meeting progress of the German investment into infrastructure at Lithuanian training areas, international operations, oncoming military exercises, and official visits. We have focused on the over all security situation in the region and activities conducted by the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group, said Lt Gen Valdemaras Rupšys.
Germany contributes significantly to the development of Lithuania’s defence capabilities. It is a longstanding partner to Lithuania in upgrading our Armed Forces’ infrastructure, weaponry and military equipment. Germany is also highly appreciated for being an active participant of the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states , it is also the framework nation of the NATO enhanced Forward
Presence Battalion Battle Group deployed for deterrence and defence purposes in Rukla since early 2017.
Lithuania stands as an active and reliable Germany’s partner in international missions and operations: currently Lithuanians are guarding the German base in international operation MINUSMA in the Republic of Mali. Over 12 thousand German military personnel have already rotated to train in national and international exercises alongside Lithuanians since the beginning of deployment.
