Chief of Defence discussed execution and synchronization of defence plans with NATO DSACEUR

Chief of Defence of Lithuania General Valdemaras Rupšys met bilaterally with Admiral Sir Keith Blount, NATO’s Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR) who is in charge of the Alliance’s force generation.

The leaders exchanged views and assessment of the security situation in Europe, discussed regional NATO defence plans for the Baltic states, synchronization and execution. A Rehearsal of Concept (RoC) Drill was run by SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers) just this week.

According to Chief of Defence, NATO collective defence and effective collective action guarantee deterrence and prevents conventional actions of a potential adversary against NATO.  Therefore a consistent defence readiness, and relentless force development and upgrading in reflection of real-life security challenges are critical.  The welfare of our society and future generations rest on that.

The decisive NATO deterrence is NATO force presence in Lithuania and other member states on the eastern flank. General Rupšys thanked for the NATO Allied troop deployment in Lithuania and consistent attention to members states in the region.

Another current issue addressed at the meeting was the Kremlin’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine and aspects of assistance to Ukraine.
