On June 16-19 7th Baltic Military Sports Games took place in Aluksnė Town (Latvia). Lithuanian representatives, Grand Lithuanian Duchess Birutė Motorised Infantry Battalion (Alytus), were successful in the matches of small football and beach volleyball.
Beach volleyball players 1st Lt. Andrius Česnauskas and Lt. Tomas Stakvilevičius made it to the semi-finals after a successful game in the subgroup and against the Estonian-I and Latvian-II teams. After winning against the Lithuanian-II team in the semi-finals they met with a strong Latvian-I team. After a dangerous advantage of four scores to the Latvian side in the first set and the Lithuanian's advantage of three in the second, our team won the first place with the advantage of five points.
The small football team beat the Estonian team 8:1 in semi-finals and won against Latvians in the finals by 4:2. Star of the former game Sgt. Kęstutis Balkevičius scored half of the team's points, in the latter match Sgt. Saulius Laibinis scored twice.
Participants of the games were awarded with cups, certificates and remembrance gifts.
The 8th Baltic Sports Games next year are planned to take place in Lithuania.
