Arrival of the US Navy command ship „Mount Whitney" at Klaipėda Seaport

 

 

Klaipėda, Lithuania - The 6th Fleet US Navy command ship „Mount Whitney" will visit Klaipėda Seaport on September 11 and then participate in the multinational special operations forces exercise „Jackal Stone 10," which will be hosted in Lithuania and Poland beginning September 13.

 

During its stay in Klaipėda Seaport, the ship's captain and representatives of the Lithuanian Armed Forces are expected to meet with authorities of Klaipėda City and circuit.

 

About „Mount Whitney"

 

USS „Mount Whitney" serves as flagship of the 6th Fleet of the US Navy and has been the command and control ship of the Joint Command Lisbon and Commander NATO Striking Force since February 2005. USS „Mount Whitney" was named after the highest 14 500-feet peak in Sierra Nevada.

 

In August 2008 „Mount Whitney" was deployed in the Black Sea to ensure provision of humanitarian relief for victims of Russian-Georgian war. „Mount Whitney" was the first US ship to bring shipment to Poti Seaport in Georgia.
