Minister of National Defence Rasa Juknevičienė will participate in NATO Defence Ministers' meeting in Brussels, Belgium, on June 11-12.
During the meeting the Ministers will look into the running issues of NATO defence planning, operations, and revision of response force, along with points of the Alliance's partnership policy.
NATO operations in Kosovo and Afghanistan will be discussed with particular attention. Allied Ministers of Defence will address joint efforts in Afghanistan with representatives of non-NATO members contributing to operation of the Alliance in Afghanistan.
A session in the format of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council is scheduled to bring together NATO members and partners for a discussion over the perspectives of defence cooperation.
According to the Minister Rasa Juknevičienė's agenda, she will address current issues in bilateral meetings with Danish, Italian, Georgian, and Macedonian Ministers.
Meeting in Brussels will be the last session of the allied Defence Ministers under the chairmanship of the present NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer who will be replaced in his duties by Anders Fogh Rasmussen in August.
