On 26 August, in the province of Ghor in Chaghcharan the officers of the Department of Drug Prevention carried out a successful operation during which they intercepted a more than 170 kilos record-breaking drug batch.
Brigadier General Khudayaras Qodosi presented the results of operation and expressed delight about the improving level of policemen preparedness at the special press conference. General expressed gratitude to the USA soldiers and Lithuania's officers for the contribution to Afghan National Police training as well as means to prevent crimes.
This year the Police Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team handed over six motorcycles to the police of Ghor which were used during drug detain operation.
Although poppies do not grow in Ghor, the province has already become a transit point for drug trafficking.
More cautious attention is being paid to Afghanistan National Security Forces Projects while executing a NATO-led International Security Assistance Force Strategy in Afghanistan. In November 2010, a Lithuanian-led Police Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team started to collaborate with the police officers in the province of Ghor. Since then, the training of local policemen has been implemented successfully.
