The 1300 troops and 230 units of military equipment deployed in Lithuania as the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group have been training defensive and offensive operations, first-aid medical treatment in field conditions and building up interoperability at Exercise Rising Bull since late March. The raise of the level of alert prompted the eFP deployment from the homebase in Rukla to the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area (Švenčionys region) where the exercise is set to run until April 11.

It is the first time the NATO eFP Lithuania is exercising in full composition in Lithuania. The current rotation is manned by Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Croatia, and led by German officer Lt Col Lars Neitzel. Exercise Rising Bull is held to ensure proper readiness for the upcoming, one of the largest annual international exercises hosted by the Lithuanian Armed Forces, Iron Wolf 23–1 where the NATO eFP Battle Group and the Duke Vaidotas Infantry Battalion of the Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf will conduct “force on force” training.
