HMMWV Driver Course organised for Ukrainian personnel at NCO School's Kazlų Rūda Training...

October 28-31, HMMWV Driver Course was for the first time organised at Kazlų Rūda Training Area of NCO School for Ukrainian military personnel to be deployed to Ghor province (Afghanistan) with the Lithuanian-led PRT.

HMMWV Driver Course for Ukrainian troops was held according to the same programme as Lithuanian servicemen. The course falls into two parts: theoretical background for troops to familiarise with HMMWV architecture, technical exploitation, and work safety, and practical part to train driving skills.

During the practical training troops practiced driving trucks in various types of inclement conditions - sand, mud, shallow and deep water obstacles, in darkness, in convoy formation, driving a tugged HMMWV, or the one that tugs another vehicle.

Ukrainian troops will apply the acquired knowledge when deployed on the mission in Afghanistan. According to the participating personnel, HMMWV Driver Course was beneficial both for embedding former knowledge and for training of new skills. After the course all the participants were presented with HMMWV Driver Course certificates.
