Early in the morning on May 12 an explosive device detonated near patrolling NATO International Security Assistance Force's personnel among which there were members of the Lithuanian-led Air Assault Team in Helmand, south Afghanistan. Lithuanian personnel were not injured.
The explosion occurred near a joint foot patrol of NATO's ISAF soldiers and local security forces.
The Danish Royal armed Forces informed the media about two service members injured in the incident.
Lithuanian military have been serving in the Air Assault Team in composition of the Danish Contingent in the south of Afghanistan since 2008. The Team controls ground-launched attacks against aircraft.
