October 21, Carlisle (Pennsylvania), Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt Gen A. Pocius was named an honorary member of the International Fellows Program of the prestigious United States Army War College at the International Fellows Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. The title is conferred on the graduates of the College who hold the highest positions in their respective countries' national armed forces.

 

"Studies in this prestigious institution gave me an opportunity not only to gain exclusive knowledge but also to share experience of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, of our fights for independence, and to represent my country and the Lithuanian military", said Chief of Defence addressing the academic community, students and professors of the College, during the ceremony. He also encouraged students to use the intellectual resource from the studies for climbing up the career ladder.

 

The portrait from now on to hang at the International Fellows Hall of Fame was unveiled by Commandant of the United States Army War College Maj Gen Gregg Martin.

 

Lt Gen A. Pocius graduated from the Strategic Program Course tailored to the needs of strategic level commanders after one year of studies in 2004. He was the first officer of the Lithuanian Armed Forces to graduate from the course.

In 1978 the same studies program at theUS Army War College was attended by former Chief of Defence of Lithuania Major General (retired) Jonas Kronkaitis who held the rank of a colonel in the US army at that time.

 

Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt Gen A.Pocius is visiting USA on invitation of the managing staff of the United States Army War College. He is expected to return to Lithuania on October 23.
