Brig Gen Piotr Patalong, Commander of the Polish Special Operations Forces, met with the Lithuanian Special Operations Forces Command and Maj Gen Arvydas Pocius, Lithuanian Chief of Defence, while on his visit to Lithuania on June 20.

 

The Lithuanian Special Operations Forces (SOF) Command discussed the structure and principal tasks of the Lithuanian SOF with Brig Gen Patalong and his delegation. The guests also visited the Special Purpose Service Training Centre where they were able to familiarise themselves with SOF equipment, and their mission in the multinational operation in southern Afghanistan. Maj Gen Arvydas Pocius also addressed issues related to bilateral SOF cooperation.

 

"Cooperation between the Lithuanian and Polish Armed Forces is beneficial to both countries; therefore, further cooperation with the Polish SOF is a concept that deserves our support," said Maj Gen Pocius. "We will ensure further development of SOF of our counties through shared experiences and knowledge that troops acquire in multinational deployments and in exercises at the tactical and strategic levels," said Maj Gen Pocius.

 

The Lithuanian Special Operations Forces participate in the joint international special operations forces exercise Jackal Stone on an annual basis, and cooperate with naval and land components of the Polish Special Operations Forces.
