Baltic Navy Commanders discussed regional security and the enhancement of trilateral cooperation at a meeting in Estonia

Baltic Navy Commanders discussed regional security and the enhancement of trilateral cooperation...

On October 20–21, the Baltic Naval Committee (BNC) met in Estonia. The Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian Navy Commanders discussed relevant aspects of Baltic Sea regional security and further maritime cooperation.

They focused particularly on security in the Baltic Sea region, the enhancement of cooperation among the three states at the naval level, the coordination of joint actions, and future prospects for collaboration.

The regularly held BNC meetings serve as a platform for coordinating shared maritime interests, exchanging relevant information and experience, and aligning practical cooperation. Close cooperation between the Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian Navies is critical for a shared recognized maritime picture in the Baltic Sea, better interoperability, and readiness to act together.

The BNC is an established format of cooperation between the three Baltic states’ Naval Commanders that overviews progress made on ongoing joint projects, coordinates future fields of activity, and strengthens Baltic naval cooperation within NATO and other international frameworks. Previous BNC meetings focused primarily on maritime situational awareness, joint exercises, and the enhancement of mutual cooperation.
