The Lithuanian Armed Forces begins the cycle of training recruits of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for 2024, it is marked by departure of the 4th military instructors team for the international Operation Interflex in the United Kingdom. Lithuanian military instructors will also continue the participation in the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) which is planned to result in approx. 1600 trained Ukrainian servicemembers, approx. 90 courses are planned to be conducted in the territory of Lithuania and provide approx. 1600 trained Ukrainian military as well, while the effort in Operation Interflex this year is planned to result in 400 trained Ukrainian troops totaling to approx. 3500 Ukrainian servicemembers in Lithuania’s count this year.

The deployment ceremony for the 18 military instructors took place at the Gen Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre today. Over the five months on Interflex, the Lithuanian instructors will equip Ukrainian recruits in basic skills and knowledge critical for battlefield actions.

The Allies will prepare approx. 1600 Ukrainian servicemembers for combat action over 2024 in Battalion HQ, Infantry Coy, Squad, Marksman and other courses in the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine), German-led multinational military training programme.

The Lithuanian units will join the training as of mid-January, different courses and workshops for junior leaders and specialists will be held. In 2023 the Ukrainian trained in Lithuania underwent international military instructor, shooting instructor, L70 anti-aircraft gun operator, infantry squad leader, MP operations instructor and person protection, 120 mm mortar squad leader and many other courses.
